Body-safety

Your health and safety come first. We select products from established brands that provide material and product-safety information, and we exclude low-cost unbranded goods from our range. Always read the individual product page and follow the instructions supplied by the manufacturer — they take precedence over the general guidance below.

Materials

Silicone — when fully cured and of high quality, silicone is non-porous and easy to clean. Grades vary between manufacturers, so check the specification on the individual product page rather than assuming all silicone is equivalent.

Stainless steel — non-porous, durable and easy to clean thoroughly. Follow the manufacturer’s disinfection instructions where they are provided.

Borosilicate glass — heat-tempered and non-porous. Inspect glass items before every use and stop using them immediately if you find any chip, crack or deep scratch. Avoid sudden temperature changes, which can cause thermal shock.

TPE / TPR — soft and realistic, but porous, which means it cannot be fully sanitised. We recommend using a condom with these toys, not sharing them, and replacing them regularly.

Lubricant compatibility

Unless the manufacturer states otherwise, water-based lubricant is the safest general choice for silicone toys, because some silicone lubricants can react with some silicone surfaces. Hybrid lubricants sit between the two — check the product specification before using one with a toy. Oil-based products can degrade latex condoms.

Cleaning

Clean your toy before and after every use with warm water and mild soap or a dedicated toy cleaner, then dry it thoroughly.

• Boiling: boil a product only if the manufacturer explicitly states that the entire product is boil-safe. Never boil powered, rechargeable or battery-operated products, products with a battery compartment, glued components, coatings or mixed materials.
• Disinfectants: do not use alcohol, bleach or other disinfectants unless the manufacturer permits it. They can damage coatings, colours, adhesives and some plastics.
• Water resistance: follow the manufacturer’s water-resistance rating. Not every washable-looking toy can be submerged.

Storage

• Store toys separately to avoid materials reacting with one another.
• Use individual cloth bags or the original packaging.
• Keep away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• Keep all products out of reach of children.

Safe use

• Stop immediately if you feel pain, discomfort, numbness, unusual discolouration or any irritation. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.
• Use only products designed for insertion. For anal use, choose products with a flared base or retrieval loop — never insert objects without one.
• Use plenty of compatible lubricant, and start smaller than you think.
• Do not use products marketed as causing numbness: pain is a signal worth listening to.
• Use a new condom when changing users or moving between body areas, and clean toys between different body areas.
• Do not share porous products.
• Stop using any product that is damaged, cracked or degraded. Check charging cables and stop using a product if its battery swells, overheats or smells.
• If you have sensitive skin or allergies, carry out a patch test first.

Reporting a safety concern

If you believe a product is unsafe, or if an accident has occurred involving a product bought from us, contact us at hello@honeybunner.com with the product name, your order number, photographs and a description of what happened. We take these reports seriously and will follow them up with the manufacturer or supplier.
